What is an implant?

An implant is an artificial root made of titanium; a very biocompatible material that is well accepted by the body. At the spot where the tooth is missing, the implant is placed under the local anesthetic in the jaw. Using a three-dimensional jaw photo, the position of the implant can be virtually planned. The position of the implant can thus be accurately determined in advance and the surrounding anatomical structures can be taken into account. The process from implanting to placing the crown usually takes 3 months

Crown, bridge or prosthesis

A crown or a prosthesis can be attached to the implants. With a crown or bridge it feels like they are your own teeth and molars. These crowns and bridges are manufactured by our in-house laboratory. We can guarantee the best quality because the entire production process collaborates with your dentist.

If, however, you are toothless, the new prosthesis can be “clicked” firmly onto the implants. A loose prosthesis is thus a thing of the past.

Contraindication for implants

Oral hygiene

We find oral hygiene very important. Existing inflammation of the gums can infect inserted implants. Therefor it needs to be in good order before it is transferred to an implant treatment

Smoking

Smoking is a negative factor for the placement of implants. The chance that an implant will not grow or be lost later is 7 times higher for smokers than for non-smokers.

Medication use

Various medications can affect an implant treatment. Our Dentist-Implantologist will be able to inform you about this further.
